  • Bio-diverse

  • Regenerative farm

Our farming practices are based on the principle that farming should be done in harmony with nature instead of trying to control it. We believe in relying on natural methods to regenerate the soil, preserve biodiversity and reduce our carbon footprint, while producing nutritious, delicious food and preserving the planet for future generations

Our goals are to aid food security through the production, processing and delivery of agricultural goods and services, provide certified organic lunches, fresh fruits and snack vegetables to the community, provide education on sustainable, natural, and ethical agriculture practice and philosophy, and carry out agricultural experimentation, innovation, and study.

OUR MISSION

NATURAL

Nature thrives when left to settle into its own balance. It does this through diversity, complexity, interconnectedness, and opportunity. In nature, you never find just one plant, one bug, or one animal, so we built our gardens to reflect that natural biodiversity. We don’t disturb the soil which can disturb many of the important living organisms and ecosystems within the soil, causing soil erosion, compaction, and releasing carbon into our air.

SUSTAINABLE

We want to improve the land itself; making it healthier and more resilient. We save our seeds in order to breed our crops for the highest flavour, nutrition, and vigour for our specific microclimate. Our garden and restaurant waste is fed to our animals, and their waste used to feed our compost, that in turn feeds our crops for the following year. This allows us to eliminate our transportation carbon footprint, offer reliable and resilient local food production, and keep our prices competitive. We never use fertilizers or steroids and only use antibiotics in emergencies and only natural organic methods of controlling disease and pests.

ETHICAL

Nothing is more important to us than the humane treatment of our animals. We make sure that they live in open pasture, are checked daily, and are free of interference in their natural life cycles. We want to know that our animals are always cared for and always safe.

OUR VISION

What we put into our bodies and the impact that we have on the world around us matters.  Plants reach down through their roots and pull from the earth the physical and chemical components of our bodies.

Our impact on the world is how we measure our value, and we find a deep sense of meaning in the act of thoughtfully and responsibly growing food and sharing it with others.  It feels like being a part of a tradition that has existed for countless generations, and we are honoured to continue that tradition.

We are hungry for innovation and the growing social and economic evolution toward robust small business, and believe that agriculture should be integrated and resilient to help thrive, even under economic and environmental uncertainty.

The common path of innovation is specialization followed by integration.  We see our experiment here as an integration of business innovation, advancement in agriculture thought and practice, social responsibility, and a return to holistic management.

In a world focused on cost savings and centralized wealth, we choose quality, stewardship, and accountability to who we serve, who we employ, and who we share our community with.

Our farm operates on the unceded, ancestral, and occupied, traditional lands of the Kwantlen and Katzie Nations of the Coast Salish peoples.
